Be sure that you have the following requirements for your Macintosh before installing InterPPP.
• A Macintosh SE or later model
• Macintosh System 7 Software or later
• 4 megabytes of RAM
• A Hayes compatible modem and modem cable
• MacTCP installed on your Macintosh
If MacTCP is not already available on your Macintosh, InterPPP
automatically installs it. If MacTCP is available on your
Macintosh, it is upgraded if necessary.
InterCon does not support the use of InterPPP with Apple’s
AutoRemounter, a utility shipped with most PowerBooks that
allows you to automatically mount AppleShare volumes on a
network. Using InterPPP assumes no direct connection to the
network, which is incompatible with AutoRemounter because an
actual connection must exist. When using InterPPP, AppleShare
volumes must be mounted manually.
InterPPP requires the following for your remote network:
• For TCP, support for IPCP over PPP
OR
• Support for SLIP for TCP/IP-only connections
• For AppleTalk, support for ATCP over PPP
2.2 Installing InterPPP
The Apple Installer utility is included with InterPPP to simplify installation. InterPPP installs or upgrades MacTCP during installation, if necessary.
The Easy Install dialog (Figure 2.1) contains the following options:

Most InterPPP users never need the Generic CCL Scripts,
since many modems provide their own default scripts that are
acceptable for use with InterPPP. Information in this manual
regarding CCL scripts is provided for users who are interested
in working with scripts.
If, for some reason, you need to uninstall InterPPP, make sure to
delete all of the files mentioned in Table 2.1.

Chapter 5, Configuring InterPPP , for more information on
configuration.
If you want to implement the Dial on Demand feature that is
active as soon as you turn on your Macintosh, drag a previously
configured connection document into the Startup Items folder in
your System Folder. This configures PPP at boot time but does
not start a connection until you try to access a network service.
